 ABOUT

“You have to make more noise than anybody else”

Emmeline Pankhurst, suffragette leader

Deeds and Words Tonbridge is a new Festival of Women’s Voices. Marking the centenary of suffrage, the Festival celebrates 100 years of women making themselves heard across the decades politically, publicly and personally.

Join us for a weekend of events designed to inspire, challenge and entertain.  We have brought together authors, politicians, scientists, artists, campaigners and performers - well-known names alongside local writers - all being heard and being bold.

Come to multiple events across the weekend, or just one; take part, speak out, listen in or observe, whatever your interest we hope you will find something to excite you in the programme. Pop in to the EM Forster to see what’s on, many of the events are free or just £5, enjoy coffee and cake from The Bakehouse and in the foyer you will find a fascinating exhibition of suffragette material generously on loan from Camellia Collections archive, on public display for the first time.

We look forward to welcoming you to the first Tonbridge Women’s Festival.
